Centring Child Wellbeing in Learning
At Papagoya, a child's wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that when children feel safe, understood, and supported, they naturally learn and grow. Instead of rigid rules, we gently guide them through their emotions, helping them build self-awareness and confidence. Our sensory room offers a safe space where all feelings are welcomed, giving children the freedom to express themselves without fear. With small groups and a dedicated Wellbeing Playmaker at every centre for additional support, we ensure that each child gets the attention they need. But what does Wellbeing in Schools truly mean? To answer this, we asked those who shape and experience it every day—our Founder, Playmakers, Parents, a Psychologist, and, most importantly, the children themselves. Hear their voices and perspectives on what it means to feel safe, supported, and joyful in a learning space.

International Day of Play - Mural @papagoya Micro School
On June 11th, Papagoya Micro-School commemorated the International Day of Play in a unique and inspiring manner. The children gathered together to explore the world of play through a series of thought-provoking questions and artistic expressions. As they sat down to paint a mural, their creativity and individuality shone brightly through their interpretations of play. The event began with the children reflecting on the emotions evoked by play, contemplating how it makes them feel alive, joyous, and free. Imaginations ran wild as they put themselves in the shoes of being the "minister of play" and envisioned ways to enhance and promote playfulness in their surroundings. Prompted to consider changes they would wish to see in the realm of play at school or home, the children's drawings spoke volumes about their desires for more freedom, creativity, and inclusivity in their play experiences. Each child then captured a word that described themselves in moments of play, revealing insights into their individual personalities and passions.
